I first encountered the Citroen “Duck” in the late 1980s, when we were living in Bavaria, Germany. After our neighbor’s teenage daughter got her driver’s license, she started driving a red Citroen 2VC. It was such a funky, basic car, with its roll-top roof and flip- down windows. It became a favorite of mine.
When I came across this Citroen 2CV6 Special parked in our St. Paul neighborhood, repeatedly, I would photograph it when I liked the setting where it was parked. And when I started making linocut prints in 2019, a close-up photo I had taken of this classic car came to mind as a reference for a fun subject.
