Inspired by the tulips near our front door – in the evening light. This is my fourth linocut project. I carved 5 separate blocks for the color layers, so that I could revisit the blocks later to print a variety of color combinations. This was the first time I used extender (clear ink), which was mainly in the gradients (blended rolls). I wanted to create a sense of luminosity, or glow, on the buds.
Materials: 9×12 inch (22×23 cm) grey lino, Legion Stonehenge 90 lb (250gsm) paper, Caligo Safe Wash Relief Printing Ink Process Colors, Ternes-Burton Registration tabs and pins. Hand pressed using a baren and wooden spoon
