The drawing is of a ceramic figure we own. This guy (and 2 others) were given to us as a gift in 1993 when we lived in St. Petersburg, Russia. I unpacked him this year and set him in the garden for the drawing.
This piece is not signed, but is a modern version of a Dymkovo toy, molded painted clay figures of people and animals. It is one of the old Russian folk art traditions that still exists in the village of Dymkovo near Kirov (former Vyatka).
